We have all learned that a diet rich in fish is beneficial for our health. However, in North America, we tend not to eat a fish based diet, so supplements are seen as a necessary alternative.
The benefits of fish oil were documented in 1970, when it was discovered that Eskimos in Greenland had low incidences of coronary heart disease, associated with eating large amounts of fatty fish and seafood. Further testing proved that EPA and DHA levels in the blood lipids of Eskimos are far greater than other populations. Large proportions of EPA and DHA are required in the grey matter of the brain, the nerve tissue and the retina of the eye to ensure healthy functioning of these organs.
So, now onto the question of who should take fish oils…
Fish oils have such far-reaching health benefits, that most anybody would see benefits from a fish oil supplement. However, if you fall into one of these three specific categories, you will definitely want to add a fish oil supplement to your healthy living regime.
Do you have arthritis or rheumatism?

Do you have dry skin and hair?
